Milestones

Work is underway to create our reimagined new museum and Fashion Collection Archive. We anticipate that the new museum will open in 2030, with construction starting on-site at the Old Post Office in 2027.

We have been busy putting our vision for the museum in place and are now undertaking feasibility and design work for the Old Post Office.

In May 2024 we appointed award-winning architects 6a to lead the transformation of the building and JA Projects to work with us on developing ground-breaking new exhibition spaces.

The next key milestones for the project are to achieve RIBA stages 2 (concept design) and 3 (spatial coordination) which will link to the submission of planning documents. We are also working with Bath Spa University on proposals for the Fashion Collection Archive.

Throughout the project we will welcome consultation and feedback from local communities, making sure our plans can help improve the lives of the people of Bath & North East Somerset.
