To help realise our vision, we’ve set up the Fashion Museum Foundation, an independent charity with a board of trustees.

The Charity’s objectives are:

To establish and maintain a Fashion Museum and Fashion Collection Archive in Bath
To facilitate the development, management, conservation and care, documentation, presentation and interpretation of the collections held at the Fashion Museum and Fashion Collection Archive, for the benefit of the public
To encourage, promote and educate the public in fashion through its support of the Fashion Museum and Fashion Collection Archive.

About the Fashion Museum Foundation

The Fashion Museum Foundation, established in 2024, is an independent charity dedicated to supporting the establishment and long-term sustainability of the new Museum. The foundation will promote the museum's world-class collection globally, build meaningful relationships with the fashion industry, educators, and key stakeholders, and support with fundraising and advocacy efforts to ensure the museum’s successful reopening. It will play a crucial role in delivering the museum’s ambitions to be an exemplar of environmental sustainability, driving socio-economic change and placemaking, supporting disadvantaged communities across the region, and providing a welcoming, accessible space for all.

Our Trustees

Sharanjit Leyl – Co Chair

Sharanjit Leyl is a leading broadcaster and journalist with a 25-year career in news reporting. She spent eighteen years with the BBC’s global television news channel, covering business and politics, presenting from its Asia bureau and from London's Broadcasting House. She has also presented from Asia for Bloomberg and CBC and now regularly moderates high-level debates for the United Nations, the ADB and other multilateral institutions.

In May 2024, Sharanjit made history as the first Singaporean Chancellor of a British University at Bath Spa University.

Philippa Simpson – Co Chair

Philippa Simpson is Director of Buildings and Renewal at the Barbican Centre where she is leading on the restoration and revitalisation of the iconic, Brutalist Grade II listed buildings through the Barbican Renewal Programme. She also oversees the daily operations and maintenance of the site.

Prior to joining the Barbican, Philippa was Director of Design, Estate, and Public Programme at the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A). Previously a curator at Tate before moving to Royal Museums Greenwich, she has extensive experience of managing transformative projects including, most recently, the Young V&A in Bethnal Green. She also sits as a Trustee on the board of Regents Park Open Air Theatre.

Sophie Broadfield

Sophie Broadfield is the Executive Director of Sustainable Communities at Bath & North East Somerset Council, she is responsible for ensuring the council’s policies improve our places, support delivery of net zero and address inequality. This includes managing the following service teams, Transport Strategy, Sustainable Economy, Planning and Building Control, Culture and Heritage. She also oversees the Director of Capital and Housing. Prior to joining B&NES in 2021 Sophie held senior leadership and policy roles at DEFRA, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and HM Treasury.

Fiona Gourley

Fiona Gourley was elected as a Liberal Democrat Councillor for her home ward, Bathavon South in 2023. Brought up in Midford and a resident of South Stoke, Fiona is honoured to have the opportunity to play an active role in the community she has lived in for six decades.

Before retirement Fiona was a fundraiser and helped to enrich the lives of many children and young people through raising millions of pounds for cultural and education projects for major national organisations and smaller regional charities in Bath, Oxford and London.

Martin Haigh

Martin Haigh is a live-event ticketing expert and entrepreneur. Currently Sales Director at Total Ticketing, he previously worked in Hong Kong and been pivotal in Asia event ticketing, working for Clockenflap Presents as well as for the world’s largest promoter Live Nation as Head of Ticketmaster Asia. His earlier career as a stockbroker saw him head up trading teams dealing in the emerging equity markets of South America and Asia for some of the world’s largest institutional brokers such as HSBC, Banco Santander, Merrill Lynch and Standard Chartered. Now settled in Bath, Martin is Chair of Film Bath and of Global Philanthropic, a strategic advisory service for philanthropists and charities.

Louise McCabe

Louise McCabe is a Co-Founder and Director of Flourish CSR. Prior to this she spent more than 10 years as Director of Corporate Responsibility for ASOS where she created the ASOS ‘Fashion with Integrity’ strategy from scratch, transforming ASOS over the period into an industry leader in ethical trade, sustainability and inclusion. Louise has played a role in influencing the UK fashion industry more broadly, particularly its approach to Modern Slavery reporting, animal welfare and the celebration of diversity and body confidence in consumer communications. Louise was a founder and leader of the ASOS Foundation, with a track record of engaging employees, suppliers and customers in creative and effective community initiatives.

Rosa Park

Rosa Park is a Korean-born, Canadian-raised entrepreneur recognised for her contributions to art and publishing. She is the founder of Francis Gallery and co-founder of Cereal Magazine. Educated in Boston and New York, Rosa began her career in beauty and fashion marketing before establishing Cereal in 2012 with her partner, photographer Rich Stapleton. In 2018, she transitioned from publishing to the art world, founding Francis Gallery in Bath, UK, and later expanding to Los Angeles in 2022. The gallery embodies her vision for spaces that harmonize art with their surroundings. In addition to her gallery work, Rosa is an art advisor and creative consultant.

Simon Randall CBE

Simon Randall is a former solicitor for Winckworth Sherwood LLP where he specialised in local government and housing for which he was awarded a CBE in 1991 for his political work in that area. Simon has had a distinguished career in London local government, having been an elected member of Bromley Council for over 20 years. He served as Chairman of the London Boroughs Association Housing and Social Services Committee and in that capacity advised housing ministers on housing issues.

Andy Salmon

Professor Andy Salmon is Pro-vice Chancellor External at Bath Spa University. Since assuming a post at Bath Spa, initially as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Andy has had the opportunity to further develop a range of innovation projects leading to a promotion to Pro Vice Chancellor External in June 2019 and a Professorship in Creative and Social Enterprise in Spring 2020. Andy's current major project is the foundation of the UK's first fully integrated National Centre for Fashion and Sustainability in partnership with Fashion Museum Bath. Driven by policy change, the Fashion industry is in the vanguard of business model transformations that leave no discipline untouched and work at all levels – curriculum, innovation, enterprise and research. This ambition is in partnership with Fashion Museum Bath to build something commensurate with this challenge.

Robert Yentob

Robert Yentob is a Past Court Assistant of the Glovers Company. He is Chairman of Dewhurst Dent Plc which owns Dents, the largest fashion glove company in the UK, which has its own historic glove collection. He is a non-executive director of several companies and a Trustee of a number of charities. Dents is a supporter of the Fashion Museum, currently housing the entire Collection at its Warminster factory site.

“I have always enjoyed historical dress and their stories about social history, and feel passionate about the preservation and conservation of them for future generations. I donated a couple of items to the Collection in the past. I am so proud to think they may have brought joy to visitors, and the Buy-a-bag campaign made me think of them. I really hope that wherever the Fashion Museum reopens, that it is able to show off this amazing collection to its best… for many more generations to come.”
